Welcome to Our Mountain
1/18/12
The primary purpose of the Blue Ridge Horseman's Association is to improve, expand and to protect existing lands open to horseback riding on public and private lands in North Carolina. BRHA operates the Anita-Alta BRHA Youth & Horse Camp;located at 2929 Mulberry Creek Rd., Lenoir, NC 28645. We are open to all and boast the cheapest horse camping this side of the Mississippi River! Our campground is 375 acres and is adjacent to Boone Fork Recreation Park in the Pisgah National Forest of Grandfather district which has 43,380 acres. We have primitive horse trailer camping, tent camping, and we also have cabins available as well as two large 50 seat pavilions with kitchens and bathrooms. Most of the campsites are located on Mulberry Creek. We also have hot showers as well as miles and miles of well marked horse trails on old logging roads and single track trails. . A color coded map is available at the caretaker's house for $2 each so you can feel at ease in exploring trails on your own for the 1st time. Anita-Alta is great also for wagon driving being only 7/10 of a mile away from a gravel road with miles and miles of dirt road riding through the mountains. Anita-Alta is a gated campground, so please call ahead to make arrangements for a visit through our camp caretaker: Laura Lail @ 828-758-5528. Upon your visit, if you like what you see; you can join our Association for only $30 for the year for your entire family and then you will be allowed to come and go as you please and camp anytime throughout the year. Each visit must not exceed 14 days in length. The only fee associated with camping is a daily $3.00 parking fee for each driving vehicle. i.e.: 1 truck, 1 trailer, 1 car, 6 people & 5 horses would be just $6 per day. 1 horse or 10 horses, as long as it came with only one driving vehicle is only $3 a day. Your kids will love it here!! We have a large fishing pond, a waterfall to hike to, several caves to explore, beautiful Mulberry Creek meandering right through the middle of the camping area, horseshoes, volleyball, and plenty of other fun things to do here. If camping is not your thing; you can coordinate with our caretaker to come in and day ride for $3 per day per rig; but bring your $30 because we think you will be so impressed, you will want to join us!! .
